- Ok, so the economy was a big issue. Now, what exactly has Obama done? I still am not quite sure. I mean, the way I see it, he must not be doing much, as if he were doing something, then America would be moving in some sort of direction.
- BP Oil Spill: also a big issue. Oil out in the middle of the ocean. Hurting oceanic life. America cares. We worry, we feel bad. Meanwhile, two months later, there is an oil spill in Egypt. And what happens? Well, if you're talking about America, nothing. I understand if the BP spill was too close to home, or if it was really big, but c'mon people. That's not why we should care about oil spills. It shouldn't be about location or size.
- Haiti earthquake: I remember that my school was doing some sort of jean drive for the Haitians. It doesn't seem like that was earlier this year. It feels like a year ago.
- The Sate of the Union Address: I watched this for extra credit for my History class. And you know what I thought? Bull-Pucky. (I don't swear.) The statement that rings through my mind the most is how Obama said that "This mess was here before I even walked in the door." (Quote may have been paraphrased.) The guy has no integrity. He doesn't know how to take responsibility for his own actions. You can call me whatever you like, but I still think he wasn't born in America. If he was, he would have no reason whatsoever to use a forged birth certificate. Heck, even his own grandma says he wasn't born in the USA. Sadly, I'm afraid he won't reveal the truth until after he's out of office.
- The New York Mosque: Huge debate. My opinion? They shouldn't build it. Not so close. I know they say a New York block is huge, and that two is more than enough space, but it's just too close. How far it should be, I'm not sure. But it just seems rather disrespectful. I'm all for freedom of religion (that's part of what makes America so great), but what about the family's feelings? Shouldn't they be taken into consideration?
- Tiger Woods: No one expected this. My mom was shocked. I could really care less about sports, but yea, I knew who he was. Now we all know what he really is. A lying, cheating, no good cad. Therefore I will waste no more talk on Tiger Woods.
- WikiLeaks: I still don't quite comprehend the big deal here. Okay, I kinda do. So this company/guy/whatever WikiLeaks is, they/he/it released a bunch of highly-classified info. Okay. I see the big deal. I mean, this stuff could fall into the wrong hands. But apparently this is not the first time this has happened. There were Leaks last year. How come I never heard about those ones? And what's more, there are more Leaks to come. How come those aren't rocking the boat?
- I didn't hear a whole lot about the Chilean miners, so I can't really comment on them. Don't say I live under a rock. We just dont have a TV.
- Miley Cyrus: Only because no one else is going to say anything. There is a frickin' video of her smoking a bong. Okay. Remember when Michael Phelps did that? Remember the big controversy that surrounded it? Great. Now I want then to do the same thing to Miley. I swear, I could make one post into a whole Miley rant. I don't like her, and I doubt I ever will.
- Lady Gaga: Alejandro. The video, I don't care for. And it takes like forever to actually get to the song. But this was the first Lady Gaga song I ever heard, and surprisingly, I liked it. I listened to some more and I liked them as well. I would say out of all the really huge stars this year (Miley Cyrus (bleagh), Ke$ha (double bleagh), Katy Perry (meh), Taylor Swift (meh), etc. etc. etc.), she is my favorite. I like her voice, I like the beat to most of her songs, which is usually what draws me in, and I can make a story out of some of her songs.
- Toy Story 3: Never got to see it. Unfortunately. I have never gone a year without seeing the Pixar movie on the big screen. Until now. I really, really, really want to see it. Hopefully it will be soon.
- Percy Jackson: Another one I never saw, but one I want to see. If for anything at all, for Logan Lerman. He's cute.
- The Last Song: Seriously. Who the heck wants to see a movie with Miley Cyrus in it? I mean the girl was grinding all up against that sleazy director. Did anyone think about that while they were watching, I wonder?
- Shrek Forever After: Didn't see this one either. I haven't been able to see as many movies as I used to. However, I am fairly confident that this one is no better than the first or second. Whether it is better than the third, I'll have to wait until I see it.
- The Karate Kid: This one I did see. Awesome. Movie. I think about the best Jackie Chan movie I've seen since...since...a long time ago! Jaden Smith is great, and it's just an amazing movie. Plus, the mom looks like my junior high teacher.
- Speaking of the Smiths, I'll point out that "Whip My Hair" is not my favorite song, but it's not quite as bad as some people say. Same goes for Justin Beiber, who, by the way, does not sound like a girl to me, and I love "Never Say Never". And I'm not one of those girls who goes crazy every time I see him.
